Job Description

PURPOSE

To support the company’s Mission, Vision and Core Values in delivering quality services through supporting the hiring and retention of a qualified and talented workforce, creating and maintaining currency in all personnel files, and providing a resource to all employees for all personnel policies, procedures, and actions.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Assist person supported in finding community based employment.
  • Identify and create job opportunities, develop relationships with employers.
  • Successfully place person supported into jobs, maintaining retention and represent D&S in the community.
  • Develops specific job opportunities that match the person supported’s job skills, work experience, related training and interests.
  • Provides clients with job readiness services such as resume writing, job search and interviewing techniques.
  • Maintains relationships with existing employers and establishes relationships with new employers.
  • Identify person supported’s interest, skills and talents in order to facilitate a job of choice.
  • Perform job analysis to identify job duties.
  • Ability to represent the person supported as a valuable asset to the business.
  • Tracks person supported’s progress towards goals and objectives.
  • Maintains current First Aid and CPR certification as needed.
  • Responds to crisis in accordance to policy and training
  • Develops and maintains written documentation, as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be able to lift or support approximately 50 lbs. either assisted or unassisted. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours. Must be able to stoop, bend, and reach overhead.
  • Challenging Behaviors: Ability / willingness to work with person supported during challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, to write specific reports and correspondence, to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations, to solve complex problems, and to interpret written and verbal instructions is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful Job Developer is reliable, energetic, professional, flexible, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team, and is a positive role model for Supported Employment’s clientele. Qualifications include:

  • Current APSE, CESP or ACRE Certification (s) or ability to acquire within 6 months of employment.
  • High school diploma.
  • Prefer minimum of 6 months experience with adults who have disabilities, (or similar experience is strongly preferred).
  • Effectively read, write and able to communicate verbally in English and in service recipient’s first language, if not English, and the service recipient is not fluent in English.
  • The ability to maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Able to pass criminal background checks and not listed on TNDOH abuse registry or TN sexual offender registry.
  • Satisfactory oral and written communication, math, and computer skills.
  • This position may require a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and a registered insured vehicle.
  • Must maintain a punctual and good attendance record.
