Job Description

Performs position specific job functions at an acceptable level with minimal direction.

 

  1. Conduct and document nursing assessments of individuals and groups by:

- Collecting objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner.

- Accurately sorting, selecting, reporting and recording the data.

- Validating, refining and modifying the data by utilizing available resources including interactions with the client, family, significant others, and health team members. 

  1. Establish critical paths and teaching plans based on individual patient’s plans of care after prioritizing need upon completion of a comprehensive assessment.
  2. Develop the plan of care/action based on a comprehensive assessment, desired outcomes, and current knowledge.
  3. Safely implement the plan of care/action either directly or by delegation.
  4. Establish and maintain a therapeutic nurse/client relationship.
  5. Seek resources for patients/clients with cultural, physical or language barriers.
  6. Use appropriate teaching skill for individual or group teaching.
  7. Evaluate the responses of individuals or groups to nursing interventions and revise the plan of care where appropriate. Evaluation shall involve the client, family, significant others and health team members.
  8. Communicate accurately in writing and orally with recipients of nursing care and other professionals.
  9. Provides direction to Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in providing health services.
  10. Provides periodic, on-site supervision of the LPN.
  11. Provides direct skilled care, in addition to, but not limited to, providing assistance in transferring, positioning, cooking, feeding, and providing measures to ensure infection control.

  1. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication. Utilizes proper etiquette with telephone and electronic mail.
  2. Demonstrates respect for other’s opinions, judgment, and capabilities; gives recognition and praise.
  3. Anticipates and provides resolution to issues based on the needs and expectations of our customers.
  4. Consistently displays professional, compassionate behavior that enhances the public image of the Company evidenced by professional care of clients and courteous behavior toward the public and co-workers.

  4. Completes all orientations and the Company’s annual requirements when notified.
  5. Demonstrates appreciation of cost factors in the routine performance of duties; maximizes cost efficiency and appropriate utilization of supplies.
  6. Demonstrates knowledge, understanding, compliance with the Company’s Infection Control policies and practices.
  7. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the Company’s Environmental Safety policies (i.e. fire, Security, Disaster, Hazardous Material, etc.)

STANDARD VI – Performance Criteria - Provides the highest level of care to those individuals and healthcare organizations we serve through our valued team of professionals.

  4. Serves as a professional role model as requested and/or as appropriate for other employees.
  5. Participates in other company activities as may be requested or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

  • Must possess and maintain a valid, current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Tennessee or multi-state/compact license.
  • Experience equivalent to one year of registered nursing, or currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and education equivalent to a bachelor's or graduate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or a diploma in registered nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must obtain mandated IDD training from either State Nurse Educator and/or the Company.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Heavy work exerting up to 100 lbs. force occasionally, and or 50 lbs. frequently, and or 20 lbs. constantly; at least 5 hours of standing and walking with minimum time for sitting; perform repetitive motion tasks; distinguish colors; hear alarm/telephone and the normal speaking voice; good manual dexterity; clarity of vision; good eye-hand-foot coordination. Potential exposure to blood, body fluids and communicable diseases.
